MIS Poetry Contest – Senior School Winners

The results of this year’s English Department poetry contest highlight a thoughtful and nuanced engagement with a single, resonant theme: peace.

The Task:

Think about ...
what peace really means to you: inner calm, silence, freedom, safety, acceptance, or balance
a moment when you choose peace over conflict, anger, revenge, or being "right"
finding peace after charos, loss grief, anxiety, or change
the absence of peace and what its absence reveals
the effort it takes to create or protect peace in your relationships, families, school, or within yourself
making peace with something the past, a mistake, another person, or who you are
a place, memory, routine, or person that brings you peace.

What follows is a presentation of this year’s three winners by a visual interpretation of their poem.

Winner: Josie B.

Second Place: Lynette J.

Third place: Alexia B.
