When you think of controversial topics what is the first things that pops up on your mind? Well, you ‘d probably think of Donald Trump or global politics debates talking about the regulation of A.I. However, there is one topic that has been going on for 15 year, according to an article in Food52. It’s “Is hotdog a sandwich? “

Some people do think that hotdog is a sandwich. But many people pointed out that the definition of a sandwich is: at least two slices with filling between the two slices of bread. In contrast, people online pointed out that hotdogs have one slice of bread not two. As a counter argument, people pointed out that Philly cheesesteaks are sandwiches. Because it uses one slice of bread just like a hotdog. However, many people still believe hotdogs are sandwich because hotdog has an eating style and its own cultural identity. However, students of MIS during interviews had different opinions.

The hotdog debate is split. Many cites like the national hotdog and sausage council think hotdog is not a sandwich. But, Merriam Webster classifies it as a sandwich. On July 4th weekend and the infamous Nathan’s hotdog ‘s hotdog eating contest each year on Newyork’s Coney Island 1000 individuals in an attempt to settle the matter. They tried however the debate ended with no answers, according to Food52. However, 56.8 percent of the 1000 individuals said that hotdog is a sandwich.

“If 100 people voted if hotdog is a sandwich more than 50 people will vote that hotdog is a sandwich at least, I hope so,”I&S teacher Ms. Kuhelj, said

The hotdog debate is a matter still to be unsolved. Many people have different opinions. And both sides have good points. Did you know hotdog was invented by not a single person but German immigrants, who brought sausages to America in the mid to late 1900s. Those German immigrants along with Charles Feltman who popularized it in 1860s to 1870s, according to The National Hotdog And Sausage Council. Who started selling them in Coney Island.  However, I think we should just appreciate the simple but delicious hotdogs

You know when you think about this your head gets cloudy. So, I have my own saying this “Don’t think about it too much just enjoy your hotdog”.
