A Warm Welcome to the Future MIS Senior School Principal

By Eva L., Grade 10

With over 20 years of international school teaching and experiences, Ms Marie Favret will step into the role of Senior School Principal at Munich International School, in August 2025, ready to lead students and staff members along their journey.

Ms. Favret is originally from Cincinnati, Ohio, which is the sister city in the United States. She grew up and lived there for 20 years. Traveling all around the world teaching, she has been to France, Monaco, Vietnam, Azerbaijan and now Munich. She has been the principal of middle school and high school for 3 years and now wants a change, which allows her to move to Munich.

Ms Favret has lots of hobby’s that she wants to share with us such as, cooking being creative by sewing and making things.

“I am always reading or listening to something”, she said.

She loves running and has in fact recently ran multiple marathons.

Ms. Favret is coming here with her husband and three children who are attending MIS as well.

“It wasn’t really wanting to go to Germany or go to Europe, it really was MIS”, she said.

Ms. Favret really liked many things about MIS. She said that when she first walked onto the campus, she had so many kinds of welcoming greetings and felt accepted by everyone. MIS offers lots of things for a large variety of students and she has picked up on some of these things.

“Before I even got there, the first thing I noticed about the school was on the website. The Nurture, challenge and inspire school mission came up.”

She loves how our school has put the word ‘challenge’ into our mission speech, showing that the idea of challenge can be one of those things that helps us grow the most. Our school mission really stood out to her compared to other school’s missions. Ms. Favret said that the school website was very well designed, and she noticed that the word that always came up was ‘caring’.

She said, “I wanted to learn more about a school that uses that word to describe it’s students and the people it wants to bring into its community.”

Ms. Favret plans on bringing her spirit into the school and learning about how everyone interacts together, whilst learning about the MIS school spirit. She really loves her job as a principal and says that she is so lucky to get to do that every day.

In the school in Azerbaijan, where she is now, she supports middle and high school. She likes these two different ages but when she gets to MIS, she will only be teaching senior school as the senior school principal. This however doesn’t bother her, and she is looking forward to interacting with our senior school students.

She said, “What I enjoy about teaching high school is that this is the time where they get to make lots of decisions about who you are.”

We can see that she is very interested in how our school does things and she is looking forward to getting to know people.

Ms. Favret said, “You make some of the most exciting decisions about your path, at this time during high school.”

She enjoys being a part of senior school students’ journeys, as they identify and pursue who they are, helping them choose their career paths and how they want to make a positive change in their world.  Overall, she is very excited to work with students at MIS and is looking forward to coming in August 2025.

With a passion of helping and working with new people, Marie Favret is ready to come join MIS and making a change in students and staff members working collaboratively together.
