Get in the Game: Join MIS’s Sports Teams and Unlock Your Potential

By Uma T., Grade 9

With every game, MIS’s sport teams write yet another chapter in their story – one of courage, daring determination, and the unbreakable bond of teammates.

Joining one of the sports teams of MIS can lead you through an opportunistic journey ready to be seized by you. Whether it is just a hobby, or a means of exercise, inside the sports teams there is a safe community where you can find friends, experience competition and win, feel like you are part of a team, and overall, just have lots of fun!

“I like winning in the teams because you can really enjoy the win with friends,” said Luca B., Grade 9.

Luca continued that he was previously in a sports team and wants to join yet another one this very year. He also added that one of the many amazing experiences in these teams is meeting new friends, or just hanging out with them in general. Taking part in an exercising, engaging activity such as sports is always made more enjoyable when in the company of trusted ones and friends. Being competitive and feeling the elating rush of winning adds to the experience. And of course, you gain a sense of belonging, knowing that you are in a team, and participating in something that interests you.

“Hanging out with friends after school, the away trips to play against other teams, ” a 9th grader student said. “ISST competitions are a lot of fun,” Chloe B., Grade 9, agreed.

Another interesting aspect of MIS sport teams is travelling out of the campus, (or staying on campus) to compete against other teams in ISST/SCIS, and bringing along new chances and exciting prospects. It is fun to experience different places and meet many new people. There, you will have a chance to use your talent, play your sport, and possibly win the competition. Some trips are overnight, where you can feel like having a sleepover with friends, getting ready for yet another exciting day of playing against other teams.

“We went on a trip to Vienna, and I was in a room with three other girls. We stayed up late watching stuff together and snacked. It was amazing fun!” a grade 9 student taking part in a tennis competition in Vienna, said.

Cherishing these memories with friends is vital, such as road trips to reach the sport area where the competition is held, spending the night together, playing your sports, and having fun.

“It’s at school, so the timing is good,” Chloe B., Grade 9, said.

Many sport teams from MIS’s activity curriculum take place in an area on campus, or a bus arrives in the school to pick up students. If you are hesitant to join, do not worry because it is right at school and it doesn’t take much effort to engage in it. The sports team is definitely worthwhile, since it is quite simple to take part in. If you have a strict schedule, that’s fine as well, since as Chloe stated, “the timing is good,” because the activities are well placed, right after school and do not take too long. Sometimes the ISST/SCIS sport trips tend to take up some school days, so you get to miss some school and instead be involved in fun sport!
