Roaming Out of School Bounds

MIS hosts field trips every now and then, Like any ordinary school. But do they offer enough field trips?
Lately, 6th grade went to Legoland for a field trip on October 7th. It was a wonderful experience for everyone, and everybody had a lot of fun. The teachers let the kids be more independent with their groups, and the kids really enjoyed that.
Last year 5th grade had a field trip when they went to Königsdorf for three nights. We did a lot of fun activities in the nature, and it was incredibly fun. Ferdi S., Grade 6, said that MIS does not offer enough field trips and that we only have one big field trip a year.
“I would suggest 2 or 3 big field trips each year and sometimes sleep there like last year in 5th grade,“ Ferdi S. said.
On average, we have about 2 to 3 field trips per year. But let us compare this with some other schools in other countries. Coen F., Grade 6, says that his school, the Northville Christians School has 4 to 5 field trips a year.
“But the field trips here are longer distance, more fun and probably more cost worthy, “ said Coen F.
Ms. Millette thinks that overall, MIS has enough field trips.
„For the teachers it takes a lot of work because there are a lot of pieces that must be done before they can go on the field trip, and then they are responsible for all the things that could happen on the field trip, so yeah. It is a lot of work to organise field trips, “ said Ms. Millette.
According to the website covidchronicles.cc during the Covid pandemic schools were forced to make tough decisions like cancelling field trips for keeping their students and staff safe.
“The Covid time was the worst because we did not do any field trips or activities outside the school,” said James C., Grade 6.
A reason MIS does not have a lot of field trips could be to find the teachers are afraid that there will not be enough time to learn when the school hosts a lot of field trips. So, what do you think?
